Increasing RAM from Launcher 1.6.X

Launcher 1.6.X is the older launcher of Minecraft. You can find your Launcher version written at the bottom right corner of your Launcher window. Steps to increase RAM is a bit difficult in comparison to Launcher 2.0.X. So let’s learn ‘How to Allocate more RAM to Minecraft’ from Launcher 1.6.X.

  • Firstly, check your Computer’s available RAM. To do so follow these steps.

Launcher 2.0.X is the newer launcher of Minecraft. You can find your Launcher version written at the bottom right corner of your Launcher window. Steps to increase RAM is easy in this launcher as compared to Launcher 1.6.X. So let’s learn ‘How to Allocate more RAM to Minecraft’ from Launcher 2.0.X.

If you manage your own Minecraft server and want to increase RAM in this Minecraft server then there is no way to do it from your Profile settings. So to increase RAM in your Server, you will have to make some changes in the server launcher in your Computer. Don’t worry, I will show you how you can do that.   • The first step is to check your Computer’s available RAM.
  • On Windows – Right click on My Computer and click on Properties. You can find the available RAM in this Window.

  • Now open the Minecraft Server directory on your Computer.
  • Create a new Text Document in this folder.

  • Replace the #### with the MegaBytes of RAM you want to allocate to your Server. For example, write 2048 to allocate 2GB RAM.
