Astroneer Multiplayer – What You Need to Know

Do you want to play Astroneer in multiplayer mode?

Astroneer is a fun and exciting single-player game you can play on Steam, Windows 10, and the Xbox One. It might be a single-player game, but it does have a co-op multiplayer mode where you and your friends can play with each other. If you are wondering how to play with Astroneer and explore the world with your friends, you came to the right place.

To play Astroneer Multiplayer mode, the players have to use the same platform. To create a multiplayer game on Windows 10 and the Xbox, you simply need to invite your friends to join your Xbox Live Party in the game menu. For Steam users, all you need to do is press “Shift” + “Tab” and right-click on the players you want to invite, and click “Invite to game” to get started.

Astroneer Multiplayer and Co-Op Mode on the Xbox One and Windows 10

Even in its early Alpha stages, you can still play Astroneer on both the Xbox One and Windows 10 with one purchase. Creating a co-op mode for both platforms is pretty simple. But with that being said, you still can’t play cross platform across the two different platforms.

For both platforms, you can create a multiplayer game or use the party feature by simply launching the game, opening your friends’ list, and inviting them to team up while you are still in the game’s main menu.

If you are on the Xbox One, all players should have a subscription to Xbox Live Gold. You also need to go into your Xbox’s network settings and change the NAT type to “open” from “strict” for the party feature to appear.

On the other hand, you can quickly find the multiplayer mode on your Windows 10 Xbox app without having to change any network settings on your PC.

If you don’t have the Xbox App yet, you can download it through the Windows 10 app store, or download it directly from your PC’s browser.

To avoid your game from crashing, you want to make sure that the host has the best PC specs and all the other players already launched the game on their end. It is also good to note that whoever hosted the multiplayer game will have all the saved data on their Xbox or PC.

Astroneer Multiplayer on Steam

Using the Astroneer co-op feature and multiplayer mode on Steam is simple but a little different compared to the Xbox One and Microsoft Windows 10. If you can share games on Steam, then it is definitely a piece of cake to join multiplayer games on the platform as well.

In fact, it is a lot more straightforward to launch the multiplayer mode on Steam, which is a relief considering all the twists and turns you had to take to play it on the Microsoft platforms.

All you need to do is press “Shift” + “Tab” while you are in the game’s main menu to get to your friends’ list, and right-click on who you want to team up with, and you are good to go!

Unlike the Microsoft platforms, you can also join someone who is already playing on Steam. Just do the same thing and open your friends’ list, right-click on the player you want to join, and instead of inviting the player to join you—you click “Join Game” instead.
